Master Level Training

After these two levels of training and a reasonable period of practice of the forms and principles of The Usui System of Reiki Healing, it is possible that a person may feel called to the knowledge that the practice and teaching of this system is to be his/her life work. This person then seeks a mentor who is an experienced Master in The Usui System of Reiki Healing in order to clarify his/her vision and determine an appropriate course of action.

If the person is accepted by the Master as a master-candidate, s/he acknowledges the Master as his/her mentor and makes a substantial commitment of time and money to this training. This training takes a minimum of one year beyond Level II training, and can often take several years, as the person learns the subtleties of the forms, disciplines, principles, and precepts of The Usui System of Reiki Healing, demonstrates expertise with them, and displays progress in the mastery of his/her own life. The determination of the time period rests with the wisdom of the Master mentor.

It is the task of the Master mentor to oversee the professional and personal preparation of the master-candidate and to play an important role in refining the mastery of the candidate. The mentor shares knowledge and experiences, offers observations and reflections, demonstrates the teaching of The Usui System of Reiki Healing, recommends adjunct study or experience when necessary, and teaches the candidate the forms and disciplines that the candidate will need to teach and initiate future students. The candidate participates in all aspects of training recommended by the Master mentor, spends time in contemplation of what is being taught, gives and receives treatments, organizes classes for the mentor, travels to attend classes taught by the mentor, and engages in daily practice of the disciplines of The Usui System of Reiki Healing. At the appropriate time, the Master mentor initiates the candidate as a Master in The Usui System of Reiki Healing and supports the new Master as s/he begins his/her teaching journey.
