Level I Training

Level I Training is open to anyone with an interest in and an openness to the potentials of hands-on healing. In this training, a person is taught the history and concepts of The Usui System of Reiki Healing. A person also participates in four initiatory ceremonies which were recognized and refined by Mikao Usui and which have been handed down since his time. These ceremonies enliven the spiritual dimension of this method. They heighten a person's perceptions of subtle energies and reactivate balanced abilities to tap into the universal energy field with ease each time her/his hands are placed on another living being. These sacred moments may also have a mystic connection with a visionary experience in the life of Mikao Usui and contain an essence of empowerment which may not be able to be put into words. A person is also taught the Five Precepts of The Usui System of Reiki Healing. These are statements of an ideal way of being which can bring balance into one's life.

A person is taught the patterned progression of hand positions for use both in the treatment of others and in self-treatment. This progression is one of the principal forms of The Usui System of Reiki Healing. As these positions are taught and demonstrated, a person receives information and insights about energy movements within and beyond the body, types of responses to treatment, form as spiritual discipline, and other understandings deemed helpful by the Master who is teaching the class. A person then practices giving and receiving treatments under the supervision of the Master. The certificate given at the end of the training states that a person has participated in all aspects of Level I Training in The Usui System of Reiki Healing and that the Master has presented all components of that system.

Knowledge of this healing art will continuously be revealed as a person engages in the disciplined practice of the form, both on him/herself and on others. After Level I Training, persons are encouraged to treat themselves daily, to contemplate daily the Five Precepts of The Usui System of Reiki Healing, to meet together to exchange treatments and share experiences, and to contact their Master if questions arise.

"Instead of seeking many other medicines to cure their illness, I wish people would always honor their own body's healing ability and take good care of themselves."
